MUSEUM OF JEWISH PADUA at 8:45 PM
“DI TANTSE MISHPOKHE” – Di tantse mishpokhe is a play on words between dance (tants in Yiddish) and the ironic – sometimes menacing – Yiddish expression gantse mishpokhe, meaning: “the entire family.” In other words, a show that – starting from the stories of families in the Bible and rabbinic literature – questions the meaning of the world’s oldest institution, both yesterday and today.
In an original and entertaining concert of Jewish music from many diasporas dedicated to songs about love, marriage, motherhood, fatherhood, child-rearing and rebellion, homesickness, the dream of building one, and the desire to escape it, we will tell the story of the most complex, multifaceted, flexible, and thus longest-lasting institution in humanity. Storytelling, Jewish music, and conversations will follow one another, creating an “organic” family of many languages. Featuring Miriam Camerini on vocals, Angelo Baselli on clarinet, and Manuel Buda on guitar.
MUSEUM OF JEWISH PADUA at 5:00 PM
Book Presentation “Procreation and Biotechnology in Jewish Thought and the Israeli Legal System”. Author Enrica Martinelli, professor of law and religion at the University of Ferrara, will engage in conversation with Padua’s Chief Rabbi, Adolfo Locci.
Introduction: Manlio Miele, Director of the Department of Private Law and Critique of Law, UNIPD.
