July 19th, 1944: The belongings of the Jews interned in Vo Vecchio and deported to Auschwitz were catalogued
The Jews deported from Vo’ Vecchio first were moved to Risiera di San Sabba in Trieste and then to the extermination camp in Auschwitz. Their belongings were catalogued: mostly clothes and insignificant objects.
They were locked and sealed on the top floor of the Villa, before being taken to the Police Headquarters in Padua. Thus, all the left belongings were confiscated and became State property.
In the document they mention also the restitution of the objects belonging to the Nuns living there (Order of Saint Elizabeth) and to Don Giuseppe Rasia, the Parson of Vo’ Vecchio. We understand from the list that the Jews leaving this place had been compelled to abandon all their belongings.
