For the first time, you will have the opportunity to cross the thresholds of this evocative and history-rich place, accompanied by an expert who will guide you in discovering its secrets.
We will offer two special tour sessions (at 10:00 am or 4:00 pm) to explore together two of Padua’s ancient Jewish cemeteries.
Our journey will begin at the Cemetery of Via Wiel, the oldest remaining in the city and active between the 16th and 18th centuries, where the renowned Rabbi Meir Katzenhellenbogen is buried
We will then continue with a unique tour of the Cemetery of Via Canal, dating back to the early 19th century. Here, we can read the ancient tombstones which, for the first time in the city, have witnessed the alternation between the use of the Hebrew and Italian languages, thus bearing witness to the emancipation process of the Jewish community initiated after the abolition of the Paduan Ghetto.
For those who wish to continue the guided tour to the Museum of the Jewish Padua and the Italian Synagogue, the current place of worship of the Community, there will be the opportunity to visit all sites at a reduced price.
The meeting point will be at Via Isidoro Wiel, 26 – PADOVA.
